Hiya I’m Indie, the creator behind IndieBloom. I love the natural world and care a lot about the environment and protecting our beautiful planet. I also love being creative. I am lucky to be the child of two creative individuals and have grown up being encouraged to discover my own creativity. I am a strong believer that we are all creative, we just need the time and freedom to explore it.

Floristry was always something that intrigued me but it took the Covid-19 pandemic to hit before I took my daydream more seriously. During this time, I was working as a key worker and felt very overwhelmed. The urge to turn to nature for peace and reassurance became stronger and I started playing with flowers ~ delving into books, courses, training and learning from others in the industry. I changed jobs (I now work part time for Northern Soul, an incredible CIC) and officially started IndieBloom in April 2022. So far, I am really enjoying this balance.

I am committed to sustainable floristry and work only with British grown flowers that are naturally in season to avoid the air miles and energy used to import and preserve flowers from elsewhere.

 

I prefer a wild and natural look that celebrates our UK seasons. Wherever possible, I source flowers and foliage from local growers in Cheshire that have been grown without the use of harmful chemicals. I avoid single-use plastic and floral foam because both are damaging to the environment. I opt for alternatives that are biodegradable, reusable or recyclable. I am still learning and researching ways I can work sustainably and in an environmentally conscious way, adapting my practice and approach as I go.
